Education

Eolos is developing educational opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students and joining with other Department of Energy efforts to develop the next generation of engineers, scientists and technicians in renewable energy. We draw on the expertise of Eolos’ academic members as well as the practical knowledge of our industry and government partners.

Undergraduate student groups like Innovative Engineers are also fining new opportunities within Eolos.

Eolos has launched a dynamic new graduate-level online course entitled "Wind Engineering Essentials." The course familiarizes students  with various essential aspects of harnessing wind energy and its delivery as electricity. Consisting of a series of seminars offering a range of expertise by leading researchers and industry partners, the course provides students with a broad understanding of essential elements in wind-electric systems: turbines, wind-plant development and integration into the utility grid, environmental impacts, wind forecasting, and more. More information on the course can be found here.

Mesabi Range Community and Technical College has recently partnered with Eolos.  Mesabi offers a Wind Energy Program to teach students the basics of wind turbine operation and train them to be effective wind turbine technicians.  Eolos and Mesabi are actively looking for ways to collaborate in both research and training.
