Deputy Secretary of Energy Poneman and Senator Franken visit U’s Eolos Wind Research Field Station

University leaders hosted U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy Daniel B. Poneman and Senator Al Franken on January 27 for a special visit to the University’s Eolos Wind Energy Research Field Station at UMore Park in Rosemount, Minnesota. This visit is among a handful of national stops by senior U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) administrators to highlight federal investments in clean energy research and technology development.

Eolos Celebrates Commissioning of Wind Research Field Station

On October 25, 2011, Eolos celebrated the commissioning of its new Wind Research Field Station in Rosemount, Minnesota. The $5.5M research field station is dedicated to research and education and will help the nation move toward the goal of 20% wind energy by 2030 for the United States.

Eolos Wind Research Station Commissioning Ceremony

On Tuesday, October 25, 2011 a public commissioning ceremony will be held at the University of Minnesota's UMore Park property for the new Eolos Wind Research Station. Following the commissioning of the research station, guests will be invited to take a walking tour of the facilities, including the new 80 meter tall wind turbine, and meet university and industry research partners. A range of exhibits on university research, UMore Park initiatives, local community and technical college opportunities in renewable energy careers, and state-of-the art research technology will be on display.
